HarperLloyd Recruitment is partnering with a highly regarded independent commercial law firm to appoint a Planning & Environment Lawyer (2–3 PAE) into its established Brisbane practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to build genuine specialist expertise while working on high-quality matters for an impressive client base and learning from experienced practitioners.

The role

You'll work across a diverse range of planning, environment and regulatory matters for clients including State and Local Governments, developers, property owners, funds, renewables companies, builders, financiers and corporate groups.

Your work will include:

  • Planning and Environment Court appeals and enforcement proceedings
  • Development approvals and planning advice
  • Infrastructure agreements, charges and strategic planning
  • Environmental compliance and regulatory matters
  • Water and land use rights
  • Governance and rating advice for local government
  • Building and approval requirements
  • Due diligence and strategic planning advice

You'll work as part of a specialist team handling technically complex matters while developing strong client relationships and taking increasing responsibility for your own work.

About you

You'll ideally have:

  • 2–3 years' post-admission experience in Planning & Environment
  • Strong technical capability and a genuine interest in developing as a specialist
  • Experience or exposure to planning, environment, development or regulatory matters
  • Strong drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A commercially minded and client-focused approach
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative personality
  • The ambition to build a long-term career in Planning & Environment
